01 · The site
The house follows the lot.
The garage sits at 45 degrees so it lines up with the drive. The main rooms and the covered patio face the lake. A paver path runs from the front porch around to the patio, and a trail drops down the bank to the dock.

02 · How it's built
What's under the siding.
McCall winters are hard on a house, and most of what handles them ends up out of sight. This is what's in the roof, the walls, and the foundation.

03 · The plan
Everyday living on one floor.
The kitchen, dining room, and hearth room run together through the middle of the main floor. The primary suite has its own wing off the covered patio. Two bedrooms and a loft are upstairs, and an elevator serves both floors.

04 · Glass and overhangs
The overhang is sized to the sun.
The dining room's south wall is nearly all glass. The flat roof above it reaches out far enough to shade that glass at midday in June, and still lets the low December sun reach across to the kitchen island.
